I had two firsts when sewing this owl. This was the first time I incorporated ribbon and the first time I took pictures of the progress.
The owl's creation came to fruition while I was waiting for tennis to start. It was after an excellent and fairly fast bike ride and I arrived very early. Thankfully, I had all my sewing supplies in my bike bag. I really loved this tattered pale yellow ribbon I found at Fabric Recycles, but had no idea how to use it. The lightbulb came on so to speak and I (rather clumsily) decided to make a little body for the owl with it.
Next time I use ribbon I am going to use darts and/or have my sewing machine figured out by then. A coworker, who happens to be a quilter, offered to give me sewing machine lessons. And while I am quite attached to sewing by hand, I am slowly warming up to the idea of implementing a few machine techniques.
Absolutely stunning.
